They suddenly flew from their rock wall, to have a meeting on the water.  After a short time they flew back to the rock wall.

This is from Point Lobos. The white rock in the background is Bird Rock where  hundreds of cormorants gather together.

This is a residential gull which enjoys the company of cormorants

You can see him standing on a plank together with this cormorant in Heather Farm 

 

They appear to be good friends
