This year in early spring of 2006 we looked
out of our window and saw a kite couple in one of the tall pine trees
across the street. This became the beginning of an amazing opportunity to
get to know what it takes to raise a kite chick. We watched them
mating, building a nest, coming home with prey, and seeing the juvenile
taking its first flight to a nearby tree. Later the juvenile took off with
its parents to learn to hunt. These images are just a few representing a
very large collection of their life during those months. The pictures are taken
with the Nikon D200 and the Nikkor 200-400 f4 VR II lens.
